Terms of Service

Last updated: June 2026
This is a plain-language starting draft to explain how CaptionFX works — not formal legal advice. We may refine the exact wording as the product grows.

These terms are the agreement between you and CaptionFX when you use the product. They are written in plain language on purpose. By creating an account or using CaptionFX, you agree to them.

Accepting these terms

By signing in to or using CaptionFX, you agree to these terms. If you are using CaptionFX on behalf of a company, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for it. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

What CaptionFX is

CaptionFX is a tool for adding captions to your videos. You upload a video, we generate editable captions, you review and fix them, and you export a new video with the captions burned into the frames. The output is a video file — CaptionFX is not a service for producing standalone subtitle files as the end product.

Your account

You sign in with Google. You are responsible for keeping access to your Google account secure and for activity that happens under your CaptionFX account. Tell us at support@captionfx.com if you think someone else has gained access.

Your content and ownership

You keep ownership of the videos you upload and of the captioned videos you export. We do not claim them.

To actually provide the service, you give us a limited permission to store and process your uploads — extract the audio, transcribe it, generate captions and produce your final video. This permission exists only so we can deliver CaptionFX to you, and it ends when you delete the content or your account.

Acceptable use

When you use CaptionFX, you agree that:

  • You have the right to upload and caption the content you submit.
  • You will not upload content that is illegal, infringes someone else’s rights, or that you are not allowed to share.
  • You will not misuse the service — for example by trying to break it, overload it, or access other users’ data.

About caption accuracy

Captions are generated by machine transcription. They are a strong starting draft, not a guaranteed-perfect transcript — which is exactly why CaptionFX lets you edit every word before export. Accuracy is lower for noisy audio, heavy accents and code-mixed speech such as Hinglish. Please review your captions before publishing; we do not warrant that they are error-free.

Plans, minutes and billing

New accounts receive a one-time grant of 15 free minutes of captioning, with no card required, subject to per-video length and video-count limits described on the pricing page. Beyond that, CaptionFX is billed by the minute of video you caption (see the pricing page for current rates). Prices may change over time; any change applies to future purchases, not minutes you have already paid for.

Service provided “as is”

We work hard to keep CaptionFX reliable, but we provide it “as is” and cannot promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent the law allows, CaptionFX is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the issue arose.

Ending your use

You can stop using CaptionFX and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if these terms are broken or if needed to protect the service or other users.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes will be handled by the courts of India.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as CaptionFX evolves. If we make significant changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the product.
