Privacy Policy

Who we are

CaptionFX is a caption video-editing tool: you upload a video, we transcribe the speech and generate captions you can edit, and you download a new video with the captions burned in. CaptionFX is operated by Aastha Malik, based in India. For any privacy question you can reach us at support@captionfx.com.

What we collect

We collect three kinds of information:

• Account details — when you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. We do not see your Google password.
• The videos you upload and what we derive from them — your uploaded video and its audio, plus the transcripts and caption data we generate from it.
• Billing information — if you buy paid minutes, our payment provider handles the transaction. We receive a record that a payment happened (amount, date, status), but we never see or store your full card number.
• Basic usage and device data — standard logs such as IP address, browser type and error reports, used to keep the service running and secure.

How we use your information

We use the information above only to run CaptionFX for you, specifically to:

• Transcribe your audio and generate, edit and burn in captions.
• Create and secure your account and let you sign in.
• Process payments and keep a record of what you bought.
• Fix bugs, prevent abuse and improve how the product works.
• Send you essential service emails (for example, about your account or a payment).

How your videos are processed

When you upload a video, it is processed to extract the audio, transcribe the speech and produce caption data. This processing runs on our own servers and, where a managed service is genuinely needed, on a vetted provider acting on our instructions.

Your uploads and generated files are kept only as long as needed to give you the result and let you come back to edit it. You can delete a project at any time, and deleting it removes the associated video and caption files from active storage. We do not use your private videos to train models, and we do not sell them.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run CaptionFX, and only as far as they need it to do their job:

• Google — for sign-in (Google OAuth).
• Supabase — database and hosting for your account and project data.
• Our payment provider — to take payments securely.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information for as long as you have an account. We keep your uploaded videos and caption data while your project exists; when you delete a project, or your account, that content is removed from active storage. Some records (such as billing history) may be kept longer where the law requires it.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted — including by deleting your account. Depending on where you live, laws such as India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP) and the EU/UK GDPR give you these rights formally. To make a request, email us at support@captionfx.com.

Cookies and local storage

CaptionFX uses cookies and similar browser storage mainly to keep you signed in and to remember basic preferences. We do not use them to track you across other websites for advertising.

Children

CaptionFX is not intended for children under 18 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes to this policy we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, let you know in the product.
