This page explains what happens with payments on CaptionFX — how billing works, how to stop, and when a refund is possible. We aim to be fair and quick about it.
New accounts get 15 minutes of captioning free, with no card — a one-time grant, usable on videos up to 10 minutes long, across up to 5 videos. We encourage you to use it to make sure CaptionFX works for your videos before you pay for anything.
Beyond the free minutes, CaptionFX charges for the minutes of video you caption. You are paying for the processing — transcription, caption generation and export — that we run on your upload.
There is no recurring subscription to cancel — you pay for minutes as you use them, so you can simply stop using CaptionFX at any time and you will not be charged again. If we introduce any recurring plan in future, you will be able to cancel it before the next renewal and keep access until the period you already paid for ends.
Because captioning uses real processing the moment you run it, minutes that have already been used are generally non-refundable. That said, we will review refund requests fairly and will refund where something went wrong on our side, for example:
Email us at support@captionfx.com with the email on your account, the date and amount of the payment, and a short description of what went wrong. The more detail you give, the faster we can sort it out.
If we approve a refund, we process it back to your original payment method. Once processed, it can take a few business days to appear, depending on your bank or card provider.
