Common questions
What do I get for free?
A new account gets a one-time grant of 15 caption-minutes. On the free tier each video can be up to 10 minutes long, across up to 5 videos, and you get the full editor — no credit card, and no watermark on what you export. The free tier is not a stripped-down version of CaptionFX.
What does CaptionFX cost after the free minutes?
Minutes are sold in one-off bundles. 50 minutes cost $4.99, which is $0.10 per caption-minute. 100 minutes cost $7.99, or $0.08 per minute. Nothing is charged automatically when your free minutes run out.
Do I need a subscription?
No. CaptionFX has no subscription and no monthly fee. You buy minutes when you need them and use them whenever you like.
Do my minutes expire?
No. Minutes you buy stay on your account until you use them. There is no monthly reset and nothing expires. Minutes are billed against your video’s length, to the second.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. You only ever pay for minutes you actually caption, so whatever is left unused in your wallet can be refunded — email support@captionfx.com and we will return the leftover balance.
Do you put a watermark on the video?
No. Every export is clean on every tier, including the free one. There is no CaptionFX logo, badge or end card on your video.
How long can my video be?
Up to 10 minutes per video on the free tier. Once you have bought minutes the length is limited only by the balance in your wallet, so a 40-minute video costs 40 minutes.
What do I actually download?
A new MP4 with the captions burned into the frames, the way captions look on Reels or TikTok. You do not get a sidecar .srt file to lose — the captions are part of the picture, so they show up wherever the video is posted.
Which languages does CaptionFX support?
English and the European languages, plus strong accuracy on Hindi and Indic languages — that Indian-language quality is the focus, not an afterthought. Code-mixed Hinglish audio is genuinely hard for every tool, so treat those captions as a draft worth reviewing.
